Ultrasound-Guided Infiltrations

What Is an Ultrasound-Guided Infiltration?

Infiltration is a medical treatment that involves injecting a steroid directly into an inflamed area of the body to reduce pain and inflammation. When given with an ultrasound, these infiltrations allow for greater precision, ensuring the medication reaches exactly the required area for optimal treatment. Our sports medicine doctor gives multiple types of infiltrations, such as:

  • Cortisone
  • Synvisc
  • Cingal
  • SportVis

Our treatments include:

  • Shoulder Bursitis: Inflammation is often painful and can limit movement. Our injections target this inflammation to improve mobility and reduce pain.
  • Shoulder Capsulitis: Commonly known as adhesive capsulitis or frozen shoulder, it is effectively treated with our injections to reduce pain and restore movement. A physiotherapy appointment must be booked after the infiltration and within the same day to mobilize the injected area.
  • Trochanteric Bursitis (hip): Our treatments help to minimize hip pain caused by inflammation of the bursa at the greater trochanter, a bony structure in the leg bone.
  • Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow): We target the elbow to reduce inflammation and pain, enabling a quicker return to daily activities.
  • Intra-Articular Knee Injection: Perfect for arthrosis or meniscus pain, these infiltrations improve knee function and reduce pain.

Why Opt for Our Ultrasound-Guided Infiltrations?

The ultrasound allows our doctor to visualize precisely your body anatomy during treatment, guaranteeing the injection is administered with the utmost precision. This not only increases the effectiveness of the treatment, but also reduces the risk of complications.

Appointment Rates and Procedures

Following a thorough evaluation, our sports medicine doctors can perform the injection directly on-site and guide you through the subsequent steps. The treatment approach may vary depending on the severity of the injury or discomfort. It is crucial to develop a strategy for resuming daily routines, work, or sports after the injection.

Consultations with our sports medicine doctor are always covered by the RAMQ. However, a fee of $75 is required at the time of the appointment for infiltration procedures.

If you suffer from musculoskeletal pain or have serious health concerns, our sports medicine physician will provide excellent care.
